What is SSO?
Single sign on (SSO) is an authentication framework that allows users to log in to multiple, unrelated applications with a single ID and password. It is often used by companies to control and monitor SaaS application usage by employees and for simplifying employee offboarding by providing a single place to turn off access. Many SaaS applications charge a premium to allow SSO integration, which can be 2X or more. SSO is also only effective for known SaaS applications and does not help monitor or control SaaS applications purchased outside of the normal IT purchasing process.
